Boston’s first babies of 2014 born at same time in two hospitals

At left, Mia Carolina Espinoza Rodriguez, a baby girl, was born at Brigham and Women’s Hospital to mother and father Diana and Christian Rodriguez. At right, Belanov Ryan William Bercier, a baby boy, was born to mother Wildaline Morisset at Boston Medical Center.

Boston Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital doctors delivered Boston’s first babies of the new year simultaneously Wednesday. The two babies were born at 12:02 a.m., hospital officials said.

Belanov Ryan William Bercier, a boy, was born to mother Wildaline Morisset at Boston Medical Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 inches long, according to Jenny Eriksen Leary, a media representative from Boston Medical Center.

Mia Carolina Espinoza Rodriguez, a girl, was born at Brigham and Women’s Hospital to mother and father Diana and Christian Rodriguez. She weighed 9 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 inches long, according to Erin McDonough, a Brigham and Women’s media representative.

Mia Rodriguez’s 3-year-old brother, Christian, is very excited about her arrival, and her parents are happy to know that she shares the distinction of 2014’s first Boston baby, McDonough said.

Both families are resting and were not able to speak to the media Wednesday, hospital officials said.
